About Mount Elgon
Mount Elgon National Park is located in Eastern Uganda along the Uganda-Kenya border and protects the slopes of Mount Elgon, one of Africa's oldest extinct volcanoes. With a height of 4,321 meters, it is the fourth-highest mountain in East Africa and features one of the largest volcanic bases in the world.
The mountain offers a calm and less crowded alternative to other hiking destinations, with landscapes ranging from montane forest and waterfalls to high-altitude moorlands. One of its biggest highlights is the massive caldera, one of the largest intact volcanic craters in the world.
